Company, Updates and Plugin Writing

So, I’m pretty darn busy since graduating last Sunday. I’m attempting now to make time for a quick blog entry, though I do have others planned. I’ve been getting calls from recruiters like crazy, but I want to do my own thing and work on building my family’s company. I’m finishing up May’s projects this week and I have a couple of projects in the pipeline for June.

I’ve been working on various projects, and in the process coming out with some pretty good stuff. I wrote a plugin for two projects that pulls the news feed from a specified Facebook page. It requires PHP 5+, WordPress 3+, and your feed, user or page, must be public in order for the plugin to work. It’s a little slow right now, but I will be tweaking it to speed it up. Stay tuned on that.

Also, I’ve been asked to help with the Design 4 Drupal Boston 2011 website. We’re supposed to be launching tomorrow, but the theme is not done yet. There was some confusion for me that prevented the theme from getting done, and supposedly we will launch with or without it. We’ll see what happens.

I’m also working on my family’s company website (CMR, Inc.) in between the other projects. Hopefully after this redesign, Design 4 Drupal, and WordCamp Boston, we’ll see an increase in business.

Aside

You know what I realized? I’m so much happier now than I was when I was working at my last job. I was miserable. They did me a favor when they let me go.

Don’t ever feel bad about getting let go from a job. It might be the best thing you’ve ever had to deal with. It’s hard at first, but it gets easier. Always stay positive. Do you makes you happy and don’t doubt yourself. I learned that from a friend.
